What is Test Anxiety?

Has this happened to you? After months, weeks, days or even just a few hours of strenuous work, you are all set to take your exams. But while in the hall, you feel your heart pounding faster than ever, thoughts prancing, hands sweating and stomach in knots. Even more, your mind goes blank, you lose the ability to concentrate and dread and fear encapsulate you.

Test anxiety is more than feeling a little nervous before a test or exam which is considered normal.
Symptoms of Test Anxiety
Test anxiety may include emotional changes such as debilitating feelings of worry, dread, fear, inadequacy, and distress, which can negatively impact performance.
There may also be physical markers such as a racing heartbeat, nausea, poor sleep, and appetite, etc.
Cognitive and behavioural symptoms include fidgeting, restlessness, avoidance, negative self-talk, and forgetfulness amongst others
